As Minnesotans, we have a commitment to meeting the health care needs of all our citizens. But our state’s changing demographics have created gaps in the delivery of care, especially with preventive care services.Now, a new grant program from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation, Growing Up Healthy in Minnesota, gets at both of these issues. How? By providing funding for preventive care that will reach culturally diverse populations throughout our state.I’m excited about the possibilities of Growing Up Healthy and I’m impressed with the foundation’s thoughtful preparation and careful groundwork for this $1.4 million grant program.The nine organizations that received funding will provide a range of programs and services, including school-based wellness programs, preventive dental care, and training for primary care providers. But what they all share is a caring concern and focus on children and adolescents — a focus we hope will ultimately help eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in delivering health care.Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Address
