McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP is a diverse and talented Firm of committed professionals. Outstanding intellect, good judgment, and absolute integrity are common qualities of our lawyers. Unfailing attention to detail and constant application of their best efforts are major reasons for the strong reputation that the Firm has developed over the past twenty years. During that time, the Firm has grown to over 130 attorneys, who practice in four offices in three states. Regardless of their residence, associate life at MDM&C is defined in the first measure by one principal goal - the delivery of legal services of superior quality and the highest level of professionalism. When making recruitment decisions, the Firm takes into account both academic and non-academic accomplishments. Leadership and the potential for leadership are also viewed as important, and judicial clerkships after law school graduation are generally encouraged. Our summer associate program and judicial clerkships are regularly major sources of recruitment of our first year associate lawyer class. The Firm invests a great deal of time and effort in the training and development of its associates. Many senior lawyers act as mentors to new lawyers at the Firm for the purpose of providing assistance and encouragement as well as to provide an outlet for discussion of any matter affecting the life of a new associate at the Firm. Because the Firm considers itself responsible for the professional growth of its associates, it has established several seminar programs and a lecture series on a wide range of topics pertinent to the areas of its practice. In addition, each practice group within the Firm holds periodic meetings that help associates develop legal knowledge and skills that will benefit them throughout their careers. The Firm also encourages lawyers to attend, at the Firm\'s expense, continuing legal education programs conducted by local and national bar organizations. Although new associates are assigned to a specific practice group, they are given the opportunity to work in all of the Firm\'s practice areas. Associates are also encouraged to participate in the Firm\'s pro bono efforts. Recently, the Firm was recognized by the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice as the recipient of the Law Firm of the Year Award for its exemplary pro bono service. Attorneys at the Firm are given hands-on responsibility as soon as they demonstrate the appropriate level of ability, and a rapid increase in individual attorney responsibilities regularly occurs, with advancement from within the Firm being an important element of the Firm\'s structure and success. New attorneys are provided stimulating work and significant client contact. They are not \"stuck\" in the library preparing initial drafts of documents or preliminary legal research. The Firm annually engages in a formal evaluation process of each of its associates to consider the attorney\'s contributions to the Firm, to provide guidance for professional development, and to discuss with the attorney the opportunity for advancement. How all of the attorneys of the Firm work together is of principal importance to us.
