The Edward G. Sawyer Company was established in Boston in 1864. The Company was originally located in Court Square, which is now where Boston's Government Center is located. Alexander Graham Bell's laboratory was located in the same building at that time. The company originally maintained gas lighting and eventually became involved in electrical lighting. The business was sold a few times and in 1965 it was purchased by one of its employees, Bob MacKay. Bob ran the company until he died in 1976. It is presently owned and operated by David R. MacKay, C.E.O., Paul McCluskey, President; and Joseph J. McCluskey, Jr., Vice President & C.O.O. In 1989, E. G. Sawyer purchased LCN Inc., one of New England's premier Telecommunications Integrators. A full service firm specializing in complete system design and installation, LCN has built a solid reputation as a leader and innovator in the industry. In 2005, E. G. Sawyer purchased the assets of Seaver Electric Corp. This acquisition provided access to industrial and vertical construction markets, and further rounded out our offerings to our customers. In order to provide the best available services to our customers, E. G. Sawyer purchased the franchised rights to provide TEGG® Service in the Eastern Massachusetts area. TEGG® Service minimizes both unexpected power outages and potential life safety hazards through electrical preventive maintenance.
