The UC Santa Barbara Library, located at the heart of the UC Santa Barbara campus, supports students, faculty, staff, and scholars in all disciplines through quality print and online collections, services, expertise, and programs in one central facility.
In addition to physical holdings of 3 million print books, the UC Santa Barbara Library offers access to 30,000 electronic journals, 650,000 e-books, and thousands of digitized items via a digital repository (Alexandria Digital Research Library). We are a part of the UC Libraries system, which as as a whole is the second largest research library in the world (second only to the Library of Congress).
We contribute to the activist-scholarship identity of UCSB by maintaining the Ethnic & Gender Studies Collection and California Ethnic and Multicultural Archives, and by being advocates for open access (free and online) research. Recent innovations include the Interdisciplinary Research Collaboratory, a resource for data analysis and management. The Library's rare and most valuable materials are accessible through the Department of Special Research Collections. As a cultural center, we host an active roster of events, exhibitions, and workshops.
As an employer, we value leadership, innovation, creativity, initiative, energy, and diversity. Library positions fall into three areas: academic personnel, career staff, and student employees.
