Mastery Charter (MCH) is designed to set high standards and teach a broader skill set than traditional high schools (academics and critical thinking, self-management, organizational, and interpersonal skills). Key elements of our model include: Sequenced Course Structure & Competency-Based GradingInstead of grades 9-12, MCH offers a sequence of twelve semester-long courses in each academic subject. Prior to enrolling, students are assessed and placed at the appropriate course level each subject's sequence. Students must demonstrate Mastery (76%+) in a course in order to move up to the next course in the sequence. Every student develops an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) that specifies what course level in each subject's sequence the student needs to reach in order to graduate. As a result, depending on students' progress and their IGP, their tenures at MCH can be 3 1/2 to 5+ years.
