About
EMERGE is a 501(c)3 non-profit teaching clinic and mental health services provider; our goal is to bring health and healing into communities through our work with families and individuals. As a Teaching Clinic, EMERGE trains therapists while providing services to the community using a generous sliding-fee scale. Our Post Degree Institute (PDI) is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education. In the PDI program, Clinical Fellows who are Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associates or Licensed Professional Counseling Associates develop a specialty niche within the field as well as deepening clinical skill through client contact and supervision. This teaching clinic model is unique to SC and allows the community access to mental health services while continuously replenishing the area with well-trained clinicians. For any fully licensed mental health clinician, EMERGE offers Continuing Education workshops and courses that meet state requirements to maintain licensure. EMERGE was founded as WestGate Training and Consultation Network in 1980 by Dr. Jim Pruett and Dr. Jim Rentz, and is now under the leadership of Executive Director, PJ McEnroe.
