The YWCA was founded in 1894 to create a safe place for young working women to live and gather. Today the agency is still in the same business for which it was founded: that of providing safe, secure housing and services for women and youth. In its more than more than 100 year history, the YWCA has always had as its purpose the provision of programs and services that meet the needs of women and children.
The YWCA is the leading women's organization in the Pennsylvania Capital region, serving Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry Counties. It is fulfilling its mission to empower women and children, especially those whose circumstances impact their safety, security or future success.
