About
Castilleja offers a number of opportunities for its students to travel and study abroad, thus expanding their cultural and linguistic horizons. Previous Castilleja-sponsored trips have enabled students to visit Egypt, England, and mainland Europe. Our travel-study programs are custom-designed and led by Castilleja faculty and staff to provide our students the opportunity to experience culture and language in ways never possible in a classroom setting. Here are some of the possibilities:The Junshin Exchange Now in its tenth year, Castilleja School and the Junshin School-a private girls' school in Tokyo-have formed a successful exchange. Each spring, approximately fifteen Junshin high school girls spend ten to twelve days with Castilleja families. Junshin students accompany their host and co-host sisters to selected classes and also attend ESL classes during their visit. They make trips to San Francisco and Monterey, and have time for outings with their host family. Every other year, Castilleja students have the opportunity to visit Junshin School while still in session in June. Our students live with a family and also visit a number of cities and sites during their two-week visit. Castilleja students do not need to be enrolled in Japanese to participate in this program.
