Annunciation Orthodox School established itself in 1970 as a co-educational, family-oriented school. Over the years it has grown from a preschool serving a handful of students to a school averaging about 660 students. The school begins with preschool (age three years) and ends with eighth grade. The AOS curriculum is stimulating, innovative, student-centered and based on the principles of motivation, hard work, and creativity within a nurturing Christian environment. With its close proximity to the museum and performing arts districts, medical center, major universities, libraries, downtown, and zoo, the acquisition of knowledge occurs outside, as well as inside, the classroom. Regardless of the learning activity, the highly qualified faculty is dedicated to challenging the minds of the students and inspiring creative thought. Nationally normed standardized test scores range from the 80s to the 90s, on average, validating the school's academic program and teaching methods. Through this foundation, AOS lays the ground work for high school and beyond. These attributes make AOS a leading independent school in the city of Houston.
