Shooting People is an online networking organization dedicated to the support and promotion of independent filmmaking. Founded in 1998 in the United Kingdom by Jess Search and Cath Le Couteur, both filmmakers themselves, it became a massive word-of-mouth success and currently has over 38,000 members in the UK and US. By partnering with festivals and other industry organisations and developing web and email tools that allow members of the filmmaking community to link up with each other instantly and swap core skills, resources and advice, Shooting People has stimulated debate and facilitated new collaborations, resulting in thousands of productions.
