Callison Tighe & Robinson, LLC, traces its roots to 1947 when Preston H. Callison established his practice primarily focused on real estate matters. In 1971, Mr. Callison and Michael W. Tighe established a partnership known as Callison and Tighe. The firm now consists of fourteen attorneys who have a diverse range of experience enabling the firm to engage in a broad-based practice and to provide an array of services to its clients. The firm represents clients that range from individuals, governmental entities, local and regional businesses, local and regional financial institutions, and corporations traded on national stock exchanges. The firm's practice includes trials and appeals in all state and federal courts, business and commercial litigation, real property litigation, insurance litigation, title insurance litigation, contract disputes, personal injury, employment law, ERISA, healthcare law, workers' compensation, real estate development, corporate law, tax law, estate planning and probate, and family law. Several partners represent large regional commercial real estate developers in significant land development and financial transactions. Members of the firm enjoy a significant workers' compensation defense practice, handling hundreds of workers' compensation cases on behalf of employers. The firm has developed a major title insurance defense practice, representing both insurers and insureds in litigation. The firm successfully defended Chicago Title Insurance Company in one of the longest civil jury trials in South Carolina history. The firm represented Stewart Title Guaranty Company on appeal in First Federal Savings Bank of Brunswick v. Stewart Title Guaranty Co., 317 S.C. 131, 451 S.E.2d 916 (Ct. App. 1994), which remains the leading South Carolina case interpreting major provisions of title insurance policies. Callison Tighe & Robinson recently represented the Salvation Army in a condemnation matter against the federal government and recently won a large jury verdict on behalf of a landowner against the South Carolina Department of Transportation in a highway condemnation case.
