Since 1964, Putnam Hospital Center, in Carmel, has offered the residents of one of the fastest growing areas in New York State the full services of an acute care, not-for-profit hospital-quality medical, surgical, psychiatric, pediatric and obstetrical/gynecological care as well as 24-hour emergency services, home health care and community-based services. In addition, the county's largest employer offers more than just a community hospital by providing outpatient renal dialysis, a pain management program, inpatient and outpatient mental health services, a sleep lab, wound care/hyperbaric, and home health services. In response to the area's increasing demand for medical services, the hospital recently completed a major state-of-the-art facilities expansion with the construction of a new Birthing Center, Ambulatory Surgery/Outpatient Services facility and Emergency Department building. Plans are currently underway for the construction of a five-story patient tower that would house PHC's formalized oncology program and cardiology services, private inpatient beds, and physician offices.
