About
Nearly a century ago, CBT began as Cincinnati Belting founded by Albert Stagnaro. A belt maker by trade, he and his family realized a great opportunity to serve the highly industrialized Cincinnati area with primarily made to order, custom belting products to help drive customers' production processes. Slowly as technologies changed, Cincinnati Belting began branching out and adding complementary Power Transmission products to their portfolio. After a sales career with a manufacturer of mixing equipment, James E. Stahl Jr. recognized that the components required to build mixing machinery were also needed in virtually every other manufacturing process. Whether as a direct component in a new machine or an indirect item needed for production processes, he saw a great opportunity for the growth of power transmission and electrical products. In 1975, James E. Stahl, Jr. purchased the small distributor and with just a handful of employees and a few product lines, he began to build the business one customer and one product line at a time. Growth accelerated rapidly in the 1980's as the Cincinnati area flourished and CBT, at the request of its growing customer base, expanded into electrical and bearing product lines. By the late 1980's, CBT outgrew its existing building on Second Street, hence CBT purchased and renovated the historic Hudepohl Brewery's keg filling facility on West 6th Street. The new 54,000 square foot building offered the space and modern day amenities required for automating its business processes. As the Cincinnati and Dayton markets continued to grow, CBT addressed its northern customers' needs by adding a second sales and distribution facility in Dayton in 1989. By the turn of the 21st century, CBT grew again as it built a brand new, state of the art 22,000 square foot sales and distribution center in Springboro, Ohio to serve the Dayton market and the rapidly expanding areas of Butler and Warren County. An additional 60,000 square foot building has been acquired adjacent to CBT's Cincinnati Headquarters which houses CBT's Belting Operations and also allows for future warehouse expansion. Since James E. Stahl Jr's purchase in 1975, CBT has grown from 5 employees and just a few product lines to over 115 employees and to hundreds of the best known brand names of automation, electrical, mechanical power transmission, and belting products. We are grateful for our success and believe it stems from our complete commitment to quality, incorporating a lean and adaptive management style, a willingness to listen to our customers' needs, and investment in the best people, products, and business technologies. At CBT, we look forward to the next 100 years of serving our customers and we pledge to stay apprised of the latest technologies, products, and services and we will continue our entrepreneurial spirit and investments to assure a superior experience for our customers.
