About
For 125 years, bankers from around the state have taken advantage of the vision shared by a few insightful Ohio bankers in the late 1800s. Even though each was a fierce competitor, they realized that great benefit could be achieved through cooperation. Their vision led to the formation of what is now known as the Ohio Bankers League, formerly the Ohio Bankers Association and the Ohio League of Financial Institutions. The OBL is the trade association for the Ohio banking industry – and is Ohio’s only organization focused on meeting the needs of all banks and thrifts in the Buckeye State. For more than 125 years, the OBL has been the voice of the Ohio banking industry fostering a cooperation that has made it one of the strongest and most reputable financial trade associations in the country. By linking banks, bankers, and industry experts – and by pooling their intellectual and capital resources – the OBL serves as a powerful creator of knowledge and collective resources. The non-profit association is comprised of 200 FDIC-insured financial institutions including commercial banks, savings banks, and savings and loan associations ranging in size from just over $13 million in assets to more than $2.5 trillion. Cooperation continues to make the Ohio Bankers League one of the strongest and most reputable financial trade associations in the country. Each year, thousands of volunteers and a full-time, professional staff provide Ohio financial institutions with a complete menu of cooperative opportunities – opportunities that not only enhance operation, but more notably, the bottom line.
