About
The Gulfport School District offers a full continuum of services for students with disabilities in these areas: specific learning disability, educable mentally retarded, trainable mentally retarded, severely/profoundly retarded, emotional disability, specific learning disability, deaf-blind, hearing impaired, visually impaired, physical disability, multiple disabilities language/speech impaired, other health impaired, developmentally delayed, autistic, and traumatic brain injury. Qualified teachers, therapists, and trained support personnel strive to offer the most appropriate programs for each student. Our mission is to inspire each student to become a problem solver, lifelong learner, and productive member of society. By offering extensive opportunities to each student in their least restrictive environment, we are able to fulfill this goal as outlined in each eligible student's Individualized Education Plan. Our school district participates in an ongoing statewide effort to identify, locate, and evaluate children through age twenty-one who are physically, mentally, communicatively, and/or emotionally disabled. Further information can be obtained by contacting the Special Education office Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30AM and 4:00 PM at 228.865.4694.
