Lighthouse Louisiana (Formerly the Lighthouse for the Blind) is nearly 100 years old, and serves the visually impaired of Southeast Louisiana. We offer employment opportunities, classes, and technology training for people with all levels of vision loss.
Our manufacturing department employs blind, sighted, and low-vision individuals to produce items like paper cups, mess trays, and paper plates. The sale of these items supports our services to the visually impaired, which are free or low-cost.
Many of the items we produce are sold to the United States Government, and are used by US troops around the world.
Locally, the Lighthouse helps people make the most of their remaining vision; find a job; build computer skills; use tools to manage their daily lives; and build a network of support for increased quality of life. We also connect people who are Deaf or hard of hearing with equipment and resources.
