About
For over 30 years, Mary Bonham has been the driving force behind the success of the J-B WELD Company. Mary\'s late husband, Sam, discovered the \"tougher than steel\" epoxy in his machine shop in the mid-1960\'s. When Sam and Mary married in 1968, they risked setting aside Mary\'s beauty salon and Sam\'s machine shop, and hit the road selling Sam\'s invention to automotive shops throughout Texas. From their first national trade show appearance in California, Sam and Mary built J-B WELD up from fledgling enterprise to the international success it is today. Remarkably, J-B WELD Company is still family-owned. This multi-million dollar company does business in all 50 states, plus 27 foreign countries. Sam passed away suddenly in 1989, leaving plucky and courageous Mary to carry on. Shortly before his passing, Sam had commented, \"My life\'s dream is for J-B WELD to be all the way around the world, and for me to see an 18-wheeler load out of here with nothing but J-B WELD.\" In response to her beloved\'s dream, within a year, Mary opened a London office to serve as a European hub and took J-B WELD Company international. Today, there are many trucks departing the J-B WELD manufacturing facility on a daily basis. The company will ship over six million units this year. Mary\'s daughter, Rhonda Young, is now the CEO. Rhonda makes overseeing the enormous workings of the company Sam and Mary Bonham built look easy. Mary is still quite active -- not only within the company (she travels the world seeking new business), but also within the community of Sulphur Springs. Her fiesty spirit and positive outlook are reflected in the way J-B WELD Company continues to do business, as well as throughout the community she calls home. Soon, the next generation of J-B WELD family leadership will assume the helm, and one thing is for sure: the values and principles that have made J-B WELD a success - Mary and Sam Bonham\'s principles -- will continue to guide future generations, and the future of the company.
