Atlas was founded in 1999 by the Eaton Steel Company to be the premier steel carrier in the Midwest region. Atlas reached that goal and has grown to not only service Eaton Steel as a customer but the group has also developed a customer base of their own within the Detroit, MI market and throughout the Midwest. Atlas has grown from a few pieces of equipment to over 260. The fleet includes flatbeds, Conestogas, step deck and dry vans trailers. Atlas can move heavy haul, over dimensional as well as cross border shipments. Being a privately held company gives Atlas the advantage of taking care of their employees so they can in turn take care of their customers. The group has a 24-7 bilingual dispatch and electronic logs on all of their equipment Atlas takes safety very seriously and has an in-house safety department that is headed by a former driver. This gives the company an advantage in cost management as well as experience. Atlas has a satisfactory rating with the DOT and conducts routine inspections of their equipment and drivers, thus the group was recently awarded the platinum safety award for safety by the Great West Casualty Insurance Company. Atlas also has a logistics department to help assist their customers, using vetted partner carriers.
