About
It was the early 1970s when Frank Kass and Jack Lucks were enjoying success in the office furnishings and supply business. Continental Office & Supply was thriving. But there was an interesting drumbeat they heard from clients. They wanted more than office furniture. They wanted office space. Nice, simple, flexible office space that was situated near their homes in the suburbs. No downtown commute. Office space seemed to be a reasonable extension of the Continental Office & Supply product line. If you’re buying the desk and the chair, why not rent the office from someone you trust? Continental Realty was launched in 1973 and shared headquarters space with Continental Office & Supply in a new location on Morse Road. Office & Supply took up the majority of the space with showroom and storage. The 40,000 sf headquarters was Continental’s first major property investment, financed by Nationwide Insurance. It was the start of a long and prosperous relationship. By the mid-1970s, Continental Realty ventured into building and leasing ‘flex office’ – simple, one-story suburban office space for small businesses. As the decade closed, they added more office and warehouse property to the portfolio reaching a total of twelve built and leased office buildings.
