About
Amerex was formed in 1978 in New York as a broker of domestic petroleum products. In 1980 it began to broker international crude oil, and in 1981 opened offices in London and Tokyo to better serve those markets. In 1985, to further concentrate on the brokerage of domestic crude oil and refined petroleum products, a Houston office was opened. In 1988 Amerex became a member of the International Petroleum Exchange in London in order to offer energy futures execution to its clients. In 1989 a Singapore office was established to further expand activities in the Far East. In 1990 we established Amerex Natural Gas with offices in Houston. In 1994 Amerex began offering futures execution on the floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Most recently Amerex became involved in brokerage in the deregulating electrical power markets at its Houston offices. Currently the Amerex Group of Companies employs 175 people in 8 offices around the world. Our clients include major oil companies, independent refiners, government organizations, marketers, producers, transporters, utilities, and investment banking risk management departments. In addition to providing market information and trade execution, Amerex provides consulting services to its clients worldwide and has been credited with successfully introducing risk management programs in many of these institutions.
