Rainbow Child Development Center is a licensed non-profit early education and care agency providing comprehensive services to low-income children in Worcester since 1972. Our mission is to provide education and therapeutic services to children and families in a safe, nurturing and diverse environment where children learn and grow to reach their individual potential and families receive encouragement and services to support their children’s development. Rainbow is licensed to serve 290 children, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 13 years. The agency has contracts with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to provide subsidized early education and care to low-income families and provides supportive early education and care to families who are involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
Rainbow Child Development Center offers four programs. A Family Childcare Program provides care for infants and toddlers in 17 private provider homes. Our Preschool Program educates 64 children, ages 2.9 to 5 years. Rainbow operates three School Age Programs for children ages 5 to 13 years; two programs located at two Worcester Public Schools, the third program located at our Edward Street building. We also have a Social Services Program, which offers a wide range of supportive services. All full-day programs operate 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, 52 weeks a year. All children in each full-day program are provided breakfast, lunch and snack.
