Startup Shell is a student-run startup incubator and coworking space at the University of Maryland. The Shell combines practical resources and business direction with a lively and interconnected coworking environment. Currently, there are 50 student-run companies working out of the 1300 sq ft space. The organization provides resources such as access to legal services, prototyping labs, and technology subscriptions. Events are also a main focus as influential entrepreneurs such as Alexis Ohanian, Brendan Iribe, and Steve Blank have all spoke in the space. The structure of the Shell is different than most incubators as it's a 501c3 non-profit organization.
