Cattaraugus County is the center of a regional trails network. Major segments of this trails network are already completed and described in this new guidebook. Major opportunities exist by linking trails inside Allegany State Park to trails outside the park, such as the 12-mile Pat McGee Trail from Salamanca to the Villages of Little Valley and Cattaraugus. This new vision proposes linking villages, outdoor recreation, and trails together in municipal and county planning efforts as a way to create Quality Communities in Cattaraugus County. This guidebook was prepared as a part of Cattaraugus County's Allegany State Park Perimeter Study. The Perimeter Study reveals numerous potentials for growth in Cattaraugus County from commercial and industrial to snowmobile and horse trails. We hope this new guidebook encourages people to support the development and maintenance of trails in our County.
