NVC is constructing a new fiber optic and copper telecommunications network to deliver new generation technology and services and enhance the reliability of these services. As of December 2006, NVC has committed $8.2 million in telecommunications and Internet infrastructure in Aberdeen and surrounding areas. The Aberdeen Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce seek to make Aberdeen a telecommunications hub that will attract telecommunications or information age businesses. NVC\'s modern telecommunications network will assist in these goals. With the new network, NVC will be able to provide the following services to Aberdeen customers at competitive rates: local dial tone and long distance services via a fiber optic rich SONET network with a new Siemen\'s EWSD digital switch; DSL and VDSL high-speed Internet access and data transmission services at speeds up to 23Mb; the ability for customers to have a dedicated Internet connection and the use of their phone line at the same time; video conferencing; ISDN; Centrex; digital cable television with many advanced features including caller ID and voice mail indication and streamlined VCR recording; and Caller ID, Call Waiting, Voice Mail and numerous other calling features.
