OLIO – Make your business & home zero food waste We connect neighbours with each other and Food Waste Hero volunteers with local businesses, to share food (and other things) rather than throw them away. Our mission is to unlock the value of food that is wasted in the home and local community, and transform our ‘throw-away society’ into a ‘give away society’ by sharing more and wasting less. Our solution is not only about tackling our wasteful culture, but also about building communities by bringing neighbours together and driving employee engagement. Our platform is also a practical, fun and scalable solution to the biggest challenge of our time – climate change. If food waste were a country, it would be the world's third-largest emitter of greenhouse gases, behind China and the United States. OLIO was founded by business women, Tessa Clarke and Saasha Celestial-One, in 2016. Starting out as a hyper-local experiment in north London, OLIO has now flourished into a global sharing movement. We now have 1.8 million users all over the world sharing over 3.4 million portions of food. That’s the equivalent of preventing 2,898 CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere and eliminating 9,852,126 car miles from the road. We also help hundreds of businesses accomplish their zero food waste goals via our Food Waste Heroes programme. From leading retailers, caterers, hotels, restaurants, offices, schools, and photo shoots – our food safety trained Food Waste Heroes, rescue surplus food and then safely re-distribute it to the local community via our platform. If you’re a business that wants to reduce food waste and regularly has surplus food, please get in touch by dropping us an email at sales@olioex.com.
