On the eve of its 100th year anniversary in 2005, the Turner Wood & Smith Insurance agency is returning to its traditional roots of locally based ownership. Four prominent Gainesville/Hall County businessmen -- longtime principals of Turner, Wood & Smith -- today announced their purchase of the business back from corporate parent Hilb Rogal & Hobbs (HRH). “In the past 15 years as an HRH agency, our business has undergone tremendous growth. It’s been a very successful association, but we did not want that success to ever get in the way of what is in the best interest of our customers here at home in Northeast Georgia,” said Joe Wood Jr., a member of the local partner group and son of one of the firm’s original founders.
