Michael Willis Architects (MWA) was established in San Francisco in 1988 when founding principal Michael Willis received the commission to design the renovation and expansion of Stanford University's Roble Hall dormitory. Since that time MWA has expanded to include offices in Oakland, CA, Portland, OR, and Detroit, MI. There are now four principals -- Michael Willis, Jeff McGraw, Carlton Smith and Rod Henmi. The firm's practice focuses on civic and community facilities, multifamily housing, urban design, office interiors, and water treatment plants.
