About
Valley HealthCare System provides residential services to consumers that have been approved for Title XIX Waiver services. Valley HealthCare operates seven (7) group homes in the Marion and Monongalia County areas. Consumers that reside in these group homes have a diagnosis MR/DD and have a wide spectrum of disabilities. The consumers receive 24-hour staffing. The group homes were developed so that consumers could reside in a "family type environment." The services that the consumers receive that reside in these group homes are as follows: Residential Habilitation: Trained and qualified staff provides consumer-specific habilitation activities based upon the consumer's level of functioning in all areas of daily living. These services are provided 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 ratios. Adult Companion Care: This service is provided on a 1:1 staff ratio. Staff will provide supervision and socialization to consumers when training is not being done. Adult Companion Care services include, but are not limited to: assisting or supervising the consumer with shopping, leisure activities, pet care, meal preparation and socializing. This service is not done in a structured format and encourages the consumer to develop relationships through positive interaction with the staff and others. Nursing Services: Every consumer that resides in a Valley Healthcare System group home receives nursing services. Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses, under the supervision of a registered nurse, provide the nursing services. Consumer needs dictate the level of nursing services that the consumers receive.
