Founded by dentists in Chicago in 1865, the Illinois State Dental Society continues every year to build on its impressive history through achievements that not only improve the oral health of the public we serve, but also enhance the profession of dentistry and its membership at large. Past leaders in the state and local dental societies have paved the way for their successors to enjoy a bright future in organized dentistry.
The Illinois State Dental Society is made up of seven downstate districts and the Chicago District. The seven downstate districts are geographically divided while the Chicago Dental Society has nine branches. From the seven downstate districts and the nine branches of CDS, ISDS elects its officers and trustees to administer the business of the Society.
In addition to representing the membership of ISDS throughout the state, the Illinois State Dental Society is the fifth largest membership state in the country. At the national level, Illinois is well represented and respected over the years with its members holding officer and chair positons at various levels within the American Dental Association.
The Illinois State Dental Society has enjoyed an illustrious and accomplished history and holds a future full of promise due to the dedication and commitment of its members.
