Established in 1879 the Royal Gorge Route Railroad combines Colorado history, spectacular scenery, and unique dining options on a leisurely 24-mile roundtrip journey through the breathtaking Royal Gorge. With a choice of six classes of service - Coach, Vista Dome, Gourmet Lunch, Gourmet Dinner, Murder Mystery and Wine Tasting - the train offers an unforgettable Colorado experience in every price range. The Royal Gorge Route Railroad offers the best experience of the Royal Gorge on a breathtaking, 2-hour (3 hours for dinner) scenic and historic train ride on the most famous portion of the former Denver & Rio Grande Western train line. All passengers have access to one of the open-air observation cars for the best views of the Royal Gorge. During the ride F-7 streamlined locomotives follow along the mighty Arkansas River directly under the famous Royal Gorge Bridge. Stops are made on the famous “Hanging Bridge†for fantastic photo opportunities.
