About
Hunger Mountain Co-op is a member-owned natural market and café on Stone Cutters Way in Montpelier, Vermont. The present location, a 12,000 square structure, was built and occupied by HMC in 1996. Prior to that, the Co-op had two previous storefronts in the Capitol City after it was created as a buying club for healthy, inexpensive foods in 1969. The membership is currently discussing expansion of the present building to accommodate a quickly growing member and customer base. Currently, Hunger Mountain has over 3,000 member/owners. Hunger Mountain Co-op is proud of its place in the Central Vermont community. On our shelves one can find over 200 products from local farms and companies; buying locally and contributing to the sustainability of the local economy continues to be a Co-op priority. In addition, we offer a regular schedule of (mostly free) workshops on a variety of subjects, including nutrition, health and the environment, and contribute to a wide array of community events and programs.
