About
Since its founding in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 800,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1 million people with safe, decent, affordable shelter. Today, Habitat for Humanity is largest non-publically traded construction company in the United States, and the only nonprofit organization in list of the Top 20 homebuilders. DuPage Habitat's Mission Statement: Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. DuPage Habitat's Vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live. We believe that owning a home is major milestone on the road to a family's financial success, and a key component of community's economic stability. In DuPage County approximately 2 out of 10 very low income families have access to affordable housing. At DuPage Habitat we don't address this by providing a hand out, rather we offer a hand up by enabling our partner families to achieve the pride of homeownership working side by side with community volunteers to build or repair their home. Since 1995, DuPage Habitat has sold homes to over 75 limited-income families with over 170 children. Over the next three years our ambitious goal is to serve over 80 hardworking families which we estimate will provide a safe, stable and healthy environment for over 220 children.
