About
Zachary Confections, Inc. was founded in 1950 by J.J. Zachary and his wife Helen in Chicago, Illinois. The two were the original sales, office, and management staff, who, together, vowed to make specialized chocolates of the highest quality. What started as a simple, family-owned company began to flourish into a very well known producer of quality confections. By 1984, we had outgrown our Chicago factory. We were now on a mission to find a facility large enough to house our steadily growing operation. We found what we were looking for in a 26-acre, 210,000 square foot facility in Frankfort, Indiana. This facility was larger, afforded us more manufacturing space, housed better equipment, and was located in the right community for which to run a manufacturing business. The spacious facility, once Peter Paul Cadbury, was now the new home of Zachary Confections. With the additional space and a brand new location, we were eager to begin production at our Frankfort facility. In 1994, we expanded our product line, adding an Everyday category to our existing seasonal line. Along with new products came improved programs, and the development of new marketing strategies and packaging concepts. We designed our new packaging to be easily recognized and more identifiable to customers. As business continued to increase, it was evident once again, that we needed to grow. We announced plans to expand our Frankfort facility in 2001, and construction began in late October. The 80,000 square-foot addition will enable more floor space for machinery and equipment.
