Architecture Technology Corporation was founded in 1981 to provide publications, seminars and consulting to the then new Local Area Network industry. Many of ATCorp's core people—coming from industry leaders such as Sperry, Honeywell, and Lockheed—were pioneers in the application of LAN technology and hold several key patents in distributed systems technology. ATCorp's business expanded from writing and running seminars to providing systems engineering services and consulting on the design and construction of computer networks. One of ATCorp's first major contracts came from the Volpe Center in Boston, which was leading the Federal Aviation Administration's efforts to develop next generation traffic control systems at the nation's airports. ATCorp has now performed more than 50 projects for the FAA, ranging from terminal and tower automation to runway safety. We continue to support the FAA—having developed, over 30 years, a broad and deep understanding of the National Airspace System architecture and its operations. And we provide software development and specialty engineering services to industry leaders such as Ford and Boeing.
