We distribute the North Bay top of the line composite and wood canoes from our base in Bemidji, Minnesota or by direct shipment to Canadian customers without entry into the United States. Although North Bay Canoe and Kayak carries a full line of kayaks and canoes including fiberglass, royalex and royalite, we have chosen to market in the Midwest only the Kevlar®, fiberglass, cedar canvas and cedar strip canoes manufactured by North Bay which compete especially well in quality and price in our territory.
North Bay Canoe & Kayak is located in Corbeil, Ontario (near North Bay and Algonquin Park) in the heart of the great canoe country of eastern Canada. It not only makes canoes but also has its own leasing and canoe repair and refurbishing businesses so it knows how to make trail tested tough canoes. North Bay prides itself in its workmanship and won't cut corners. It will not be dragged into the prevalent lightest weight contest to market a "too light" canoe at the expense of durability. Its canoes are layered Kevlar® with reinforcing at critical points to help with stresses that canoes are sometimes put to in the wilderness. Lighter Kevlar® canoes have less Kevlar® and are thus less durable. You pay more for less Kevlar®! North Bay repairs all brands of canoes and knows what holds up and what doesn't.
North Bay canoes are not only functional, but beautiful and distinctive in utilizing the historic 1920's designs of the famous brand Canadian canoe manufacturers, Peterborough and Chestnut. Compare the lines on these with other brands. We believe that style counts - in canoes just as in cars and other things we buy. These are the classic cars of the canoe industry with adaptations in some models for enhanced performance. They come in 4 models to suit your needs as canoes do not all perform alike. We can help you pick the one (or ones) with the right handling characteristics for your needs. These canoes are truly beautiful crafts, unlike the generic look-a-likes so often seen in today's canoes.
The North Bay cedar canvas and cedar-strip canoes are works of art to behold, handmade the traditional way with precise craftsmanship. These are the canoes that graced the canoe routes of Canada before the age of metal and plastic molded canoes. They make lifetime treasures.
