In 1893 Charles Wesley Robinson, Indiana railroad builder and banker, founded Robinson Lumber Company in Meridian, Mississippi. Recognizing the opportunity to export high quality Long Leaf Pine lumber around the world, he soon moved the company to New Orleans, Louisiana.Robert Gibson Robinson, his son, upon recognizing the declining supply of export quality Heart Pine, began the company’s first foreign manufacturing facility in Nicaragua in 1942 to supply Pitch Pine to Robinson’s customers around the world.
