About
For over 140 years, Jewish Family & Children's Service has provided the people of Greater Boston with vital support at critical stages of their lives from newborns and their parents, to individuals with disabilities, to the elderly and families in crisis. JF&CS is always here, ready and available to respond - no matter how difficult the problem, and regardless of a person's background or ability to pay. JF&CS is dedicated to meeting the needs of the community with programs that are effective, innovative, and built on a tradition of compassion and caring. Every day there are 400 people at JF&CS who are making a difference. You will find them whether you are dropping into our office on Portland Street in Boston to ask an immigration question, or observing your infant at our Early Intervention Center in Norwood or attending an Adoption meeting at our headquarters in Waltham. In each case you will be touched by our eagerness to help and improve lives. Here are some other examples:182 Holocaust survivors learned through our Hakalah program that we all remember their pain, and that we are here to make the later stages of life easier. 1,400 people received food, rent money, help with medical expenses, and a variety of other supports through our Center for Family Assistance. In the past year, 91 refugees and 33 asylees were welcomed to America in our programs in Lynn and Newton.
