The United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UN-MGCY) is the United Nations General Assembly-mandated, official, formal and self-organised space and mechanism for children and youth (under 30) to contribute to and engage in certain intergovernmental and allied policy processes at the United Nations. We engage in 25+ avenues of engagement, consulting with 6,500+ youth entities in 170+ countries.
The mission of the UN-MGCY is to act as a bridge between children and youth, and the UN system in order to ensure their right to meaningful participation is realized. It does so by engaging formal and and informal communities of young people, in the design, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up and review of sustainable development policies at all levels.
