About
Kidsave is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit seeking to give families and lifelong connections to 1 million orphans around the world. This is the work of Kidsave -- to create change – so forgotten orphanage and foster kids become known -- and connected -- to families and caring adults. In the US, there are thousands of foster care youth waiting to be adopted. Many are older and with each passing year, they are less likely to be adopted, and more likely to "age out” of the foster care system without the support of a caring, responsible adult. Kidsave's Weekend Miracles® program is working to change that by connecting older foster care youth with caring adults who are interested in creating lasting relationships with children and helping them find an adoptive family. Our program is currently offered in Los Angeles County, CA and Washington, DC. Kidsave’s Summer Miracles® program brings older orphaned children, ages 8 through 13, from foreign countries to the United States to enjoy a five week summer visit with a family. During the summer visit, Kidsave staff, dedicated volunteers and host families work diligently to find adoptive families for these children. Since 1999, more than 2,000 children have traveled to the US as part of our Summer Miracles program, and 80% have found families who have adopted them or are pursuing adoption. Kidsave also runs programs in Russia, Colombia, and most recently, Sierra Leone.
