Mountain America is a federally-chartered credit union, regulated by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government.ormed in the mid 1930's, Mountain America was originally the Salt Lake Telephone Employees Credit Union. However, after merging with Postal Workers Credit Union in 1984, the credit union changed its name to Mountain America to better reflect the diversity of our membership.
