About
Founded in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1937 by Henry Zarrow as a small oilfield supply store, Sooner has grown to become the world's largest tubular distributor and logistics service provider to the oil and gas industry. Sooner serves the widest customer base in the industry - ranging from major international oil companies to small independents. Each of the tubular divisions acquired by Sooner brings a distinguished history and a strong customer base to the combined company. The tubular supply companies that formed National-Oilwell's tubular division — National Supply and Oilwell Supply — were both founded in the 1800s. Continental Supply and Bovaird Supply — which merged to form the tubular division of Continental Emsco — were founded in 1912 and 1871, respectively. Wilson's tubular division was founded in 1921, making it the youngest of this venerable group. One year after its own acquisition by SCF Partners in 1998, Sooner acquired the tubular divisions of Continental Emsco, National-Oilwell and Wilson Supply Company in the single largest consolidation ever accomplished in the history of the OCTG distribution industry. In February 2001, Sooner was acquired by Oil States International, Inc., a leading provider of specialty products and services to oil and gas drilling and production companies throughout the world. Oil States International, Inc. is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol OIS.
