Vermont Legal Aid helps to ensure that one of the founding principles of this country remains alive: justice for all, not just for the few who can afford it. We provide free civil legal services to people throughout Vermont, primarily those with low incomes or who meet the income and eligibility guidelines for each of our projects: Disability Law Project Elder Law Project Office of the Health Care Advocate Housing Discrimination Law Project Long Term Care Ombudsman Project Mental Health Law Project Poverty Law Project We work to address the causes of poverty, discrimination and inequality through legal representation, community education, public policy and legislative advocacy. We support diversity of thought, culture, and life experience among our staff and our community. We believe that everyone in Vermont should have equal and fair access to legal services. We work hard to be accessible, welcoming and to provide some level of legal services to as many as we can. We are dedicated to helping those who face undue barriers to participation in the U.S. legal system, who are not familiar with the legal system, and/or whose first language is not English.
