American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) is a nonprofit leader in wholesale power supply for municipal electric systems. We help member communities control their destinies in the volatile world of power supply.
AMP serves 129 members - 128 member municipal electric communities in the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia and the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation, a joint action agency headquartered in Smyrna, Delaware. Combined AMP's member communities serve over 565American Municipal Power is a nonprofit corporation that owns and operates electric facilities with the purpose of providing generation, transmission and distribution of electric power and energy to its members.
By coordinating, negotiating and developing power-supply options and interconnection agreements, AMP is able to purchase wholesale electric power and energy and sell it to members at rates based on the purchase price and dispatch fees.
The organization also develops alternate power resources to best meet members’ short- and long-term needs. Operating an energy control center 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, AMP is always on demand to serve its member communities.
