Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY or the Bank) is a federally chartered corporation. The Bank is one of 12 district Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLBanks) and it is a United States Government-sponsored enterprise. FHLBNY is a cooperative owned by member institutions. The FHLBNY’s primary business is making collateralized loans or advances to members. The Bank also serves the public through its mortgage programs, which enable FHLBNY members to liquefy certain mortgage loans by selling them to the Bank. The Bank also provides members with such correspondent services as safekeeping, wire transfers, depository and settlement services. Non-members that have acquired members have access to these services up to the time that their advances outstanding have been prepaid or have matured.
