About
We work in partnership with people living with disability, their families and the community, to create a better life. Our mission is that people living with disability grow as individuals and live a life rich with opportunities. We support 627 people living with disability, along with their families and carers. Of these, 264 are children and young people aged under-18. We support 155 people with the opportunity to live independently in the community through our accommodation services. Our respite services provide 472 children, young people and adults and their families the opportunity to take a break. Our Camp for Kids program runs 15 camps a year. It is used by over 120 children in locations across South Australia including the Adelaide beaches, Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley, Eyre Peninsula, Fleurieu Peninsula, the Mid North and the Riverland. We operate the Families for Families program utilising 20 trained volunteer families offering regular respite care in their own homes. We offer our Youth Getaway respite service to 18 to 25 year-olds using a range of metropolitan and country locations. We are located at 53 sites across metropolitan Adelaide, Gawler, Mount Barker, Murray Bridge, Port Augusta, Port Lincoln and Port Pirie. Cara is committed to growing and improving its services. Our philosophy is simple — it's about promoting choice and participation. Through your support and that of our volunteers, of businesses and individuals in the community, we can all help make a significant difference to the lives of people with a disability.
