The Cooper School is an 11-18 Secondary school serving the local area of Bicester, Oxfordshire.
We are clear in our aim to provide a centre of excellence in scientific, technological, enterprising and vocational education. What has been the impact of this on standards Our GCSE results have significantly improved (41% 5 + A* - C in 2005 to 89% in 2013, a year on year exponential increase putting the school in the top 25% of maintained secondary schools for value added).
What are we most proud of
New Technologies sustained investment in NT to enhance independent learning experiences. Winner of NACE award and BETT. Dedicated school-based and run Youtube Channel with well over 100 revision videos across all subject areas.
English, Maths, Science at GCSE all over 65% A*-C 2013 with high VA scores over last few years. 2+ Sciences over 85% pass rate with large uptake in Triple Sciences.
Curriculum Innovation 5+A*C seen 7 continuous year on year improvement from 41% (2005) to 91% (2012).
Management of Change change of status from 11-16 to 11-18 started Sept 2011 with £4.4m build programme, increased teaching staff by 25% in two years (including nearly 20NQTs) and school roll increased by 25%+ in two years.
