Starting with tactile sensing technology developed at Harvard University, Pressure Profile Systems, Inc. was founded in 1996 to design, develop, and manufacture high performance multi-element pressure and tactile sensing systems. Our Conformable Tactile Technology was developed over four years with government grants from several agencies, including the Defense Advanced Research Agency, the Army Research Lab, and the National Institute of Health. Other elements of our technology, such as our fluid pressure strip sensors and our discrete tactile sensing pads, have been developed through industry and university collaborations. Currently, Pressure Profile Systems is applying this innovative technology to applications where it provides the most benefit as highlighted in the case studies. Our strategy is to provide the best tools for engineers and researchers by collaborating with them and to partner with application companies to embed our technology into their products.
