Aerovox Incorporated is a manufacturer of electrostatic (film and paper) and aluminum electrolytic capacitors, sold worldwide, principally to original equipment manufacturers for use as components in electrical and electronic products. Capacitors are basic electrical components that store electrical energy and regulate the frequency, timing and condition of electrical signals. On June 6, 2001, Aerovox filed a voluntary petition for bankruptcy protection, on behalf of its United States operation, under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. The Company is operating as a debtor-in-possession. On June 28, 2002, Aerovox sold the Mexico City operation of its Aerovox de Mexico subsidiary to Nueva Generacion Manufacturers S.A. de C.V. On July 26, 2002, the Company sold its film capacitor and electromagnetic interference filter manufacturing business to Parallax Power Components LLC.
