About
Vecova Centre for Disability Services and Research (Vecova) is a leading-edge, registered not-for-profit charitable research and service agency that has been meeting the needs of persons with disabilities and the community-at-large since 1969. Affiliated with the University of Calgary, Vecova is recognized as a leader in the field of disability services and research. \r\n\r\nBorn out of care and concern of families and parents, Vecova opened in 1969 as an all-encompassing place where adults with disabilities received residential, employment and recreational services under one roof.\r\n\r\nOver the years our programs have evolved from providing an on-site residence and sheltered workshops to supporting people with disabilities to experience greater quality of life through successfully living and working in the community.\r\n\r\nToday the Vecova facility is the hub of our organization where all services are coordinated. It houses on-site educational, support and health care services, a research department, a public use resource centre, office space for more than 350 services, research and administration staff, and a public recreation centre used by close to 155,000 Calgarians annually.\r\n \r\n\r\nMission: Building the capacity of persons with disabilities and enriching communities through leadership, innovation and collaboration.
