Mission: Identify, partner with and accelerate catalysts for change in the DR Congo and other countries of the Great Lakes Region to improve health for women and their communities. Additionally, ACT for Congo will educate North America about the challenges and opportunities of partnership, with a focus on innovative and integrated programs that cultivate community, empower women, and foster health.
ACT for Congo's first and founding partner is HOLD-DRC, based in Kindu, Maniema and Goma, North Kivu. Grants have been provided to support empowerment of teen and unwed mothers through an integrated approach to skills training and general learning-- from literacy to governance to prevention of the most basic diseases common to their children. Experience, trust, research, monitoring and evaluation are key to partnership development.
